To quote Julian Winston from his A Heritage of Homoeopathic Literature – “This is certainly one of the ‘buried treasures’. I am sure that many have picked it up and not understood, from a quick glance, the value of the work. It deserves to be better utilized.” Dr. Willard Ide Pierce was a Director and Professor of Clinical Medicine at Kent’s Post-Graduate school in Philadelphia. The book is divided into two parts – the first is called “Comparisons” and is arranged in symptoms and is similar to a repertory but only shows the main remedies and shows the differences between each. It is very useful, clearly written and easy to use. The second part is the Materia Medica of 246 remedies based on lectures by the author that he gave to students at the New York Homoeopathic Medical College between 1898 and 1908. He presents information on the remedies not found elsewhere in an eloquent and interesting style.
