Dr. Margaret Lucy Tyler (1857 – 1943) was a graduate of both Edinburgh and Brussels Universities. She worked at the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital for forty years. Her specialty was in treating mentally backward children. Tyler was a close associate of J.H. Clarke. She used the money, given by her father, Sir Henry Tyler, to fund a Physician’s Scholarship to go to Chicago to study with Kent. She wrote this book, which was first published in 1942, for those who could not attend the lectures at the Faculty of Homoeopathy in person. It is a collection of 128 commonly used remedies. She gives interesting histories and anecdotes for most of the remedies along with listing the “black-letter” or keynote symptoms and quotes widely from past masters of Homeopathy. There is also available the accompanying Index & Repertory to the Homeopathic Drug Pictures of Dr. M. L. Tyler by N. W. Jollyman. It is set out similar to a repertory with every entry showing the page number where the symptom can be found. This is an excellent companion reference book to Dr. Tyler’s classic work.
