Ernest A. Farrington (1847 – 1885) took over the professorship of Materia Medica at the Homoeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1874 from Henry Newell Guernsey. It is said that Materia Medica was Farrington’s love, he was recognised as having a “master mind” with a very deep understanding of Homeopathy. He was deeply spiritual and an earnest follower of the Swedenborgian “New Religion”, as were many homeopaths of the time. Farrington studied family and class relationships of remedies with the deepest interest. This collection contains seventy three of Farringtons lectures including chapters on: - arachnida, nosodes, compositae, coniferae, the animal kingdom, the vegetable kingdom, the mineral kingdom, solanaceae, the carbon group, the acids, as well as many specific remedies. The style of presentation gives the reader the impression that they are actually sitting in on the lecture. This is an excellent presentation of the clinical aspects of many of the common remedies.
