We all have difficult cases in our practice, we seem unable to find the similimum or if we do, strong reactions are reported to us as a result of choosing the incorrect potency for the patient for example 200C, M, 10M potencies. Even negative reactions to LM-potencies in sensitive patients can occur. In this great book Luc de Schepper gives the desperately searching homeopath hope again, as well as a solid foundation and guidance. This book gives a clear overview of Hahnemann’s use of potencies during his lifetime, until the ‘Paris-casebooks’. Until his dying day Hahnemann always tried to find ways to avoid the initial aggravation and to increase the speed of the cure, to cause least distress to his patients. According to Dr. Luc de Schepper, rather than searching for an ever-increasing number of new remedies, it is much more important to study and apply topics like ‘Potency selection and Management’ with a solid understanding of our basic principles for example, ‘Primary and Secondary action’, ‘Similar and Dissimilar aggravation’, ‘Accessory symptoms’ and clearly viewing and testing the many ‘Modern Homeopathic Myths and Misconceptions’ that spread. The elaborate chapter about the Second Prescriptions with beautiful diagrams is a must for every homeopath as it supercedes anything published till now. One aspect Luc de Schepper has rightly addressed is the problem of the current use by many homeopaths of high, single doses, the ‘The Wait and Watch’ method, with often less than satisfactory results for the patient. It is being suggested that this book be required reading in all serious homeopathic educational curricula.
